Smile Aspdnsf Commander Now Free! Import / Export Utility for all

    Hi Everyone,

Commander is now on the Marketplace, please note Free items can not be listed on the marketplace so we are now bundling it with our support plan, so while we don't charge for the software we do charge for the support, I hope this clears up any confusion as I am not able to edit the title of the thread.

    Thanks,

What version of windows are you using and do you have Microsoft .net 2.0 installed?

If using win vista/win 7 please make sure you have the compatibility mode turned out.

The app was compiled in vs2008 and should work fine on all versions of windows that have .net framework 2.0 installed.

Please note v1.91 has been released, this adds the ability to schedule exports in minutes not just hours (as it was before).

    Xp/Vista users:

Please make sure you have asp.net 2.0 and WSE 3.0 installed, a link to download them is on the website.

    ALSO note:

Version 2.0 will have the ability to map fileds form other files csv files to make imports even easier. Stay Tuned.

Please feel free to post any other suggestions you may have.

NOTE: We are aware of the issues on windows 7 and working to resolve them, in the meantime please try a windows XP machine for best results.

Can I ask really nicely that we all respect the rules of etiquette on a forum and step aside from blatant marketing? Alkaline, I know that you posted this before I quietly asked you not to, and I want everyone to know that I will NEVER nuke posts, so if we could all be honorable citizens and use this as a platform for the frank exchange of information and mutual support, then I'll be really happy. I'll confess that some of my own staff have been guilty of "almost" marketing in the past (i.e. there was genuine good intent, - they were answering questions - but they were a little heavy handed sometimes) and we promise to do better alongside you all. Pretty soon we will be opening up a "marketplace" where everyone on this forum (who is prepared to subject their add-ons to a quality inspection) can sell their widgets and services. Let's be patient and do things just right, can we please?

    Wink

    Jo,

Over 140 aspdnsf customers are using this FREE APPLICATION THAT COSTS $0.00 and is FREE if you have a problem with this free app, please feel free to delete this post, the origianl AspDotNetStoreFront staff did not have a problem with this post otherwise I would have gotten a PM by them

I promise you if other vendors starting posting FREE apps everyone on this forum would be happier and NO one would be complaining (aside from other developers). But I don't feel we violated any message board rule here by producing a much needed utility that performs the most basic functions store owners are looking for.

I mean you have a sticky "tips by vortx" thats always at the top of the forum if thats not marketing I dont' know what is.

I'll be posting a query for you in a few mins, I am testing it to make sure the results come out properly.

Please save this in your sql export and then you can schedule it to run at the interval you wish.

    thanks

ALSO anyone asking for queries, please post here, I'm sure other people are looking for something similar to Gordon's Request.

    Here is your Query Gordon,

    C#/VB.NET Code:
    Select orders.OrderNumber As 'Order Number',
    Orders.customerID As 'Customer ID',
    ordernumbers.createdon As 'Date Ordered'
    orders_shoppingcart.OrderedProductSKU 'Ordered Product Sku'
    orders_shoppingcart.quantity 'Quantitiy Ordered'
    orders_shoppingcart.OrderedProductPrice As 'Product Ordered Price'
    From ordersordernumbersorders_shoppingcart
    where Orders
    .OrderNumber OrderNumbers.OrderNumber AND Orders.OrderNumber Orders_ShoppingCart.Ordernumber
You can modify the query to name the columns as you needed, just change what ever is inside the quotes.

Copy this, paste it into the sql tab, then chose to save the query, as an XML file. Now go to your export schedule and import this xml file, set an interval and you can now have the commander execute the query at the interval you wish.

You should be able to modify the query listed above by adding an AND clause that sets the date range. Then you can have the date range that you need.

Please note version 1.92 has windows 7 / windows 2008 compatibility fixed and will be released soon, for all customers that are using windows 7, you can try winxp mode in the mean time:

    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/vir.../download.aspx

    Nihon,

    Here is your query:
    C#/VB.NET Code:
    Select orders.OrderNumber As 'Order Number',
    Orders.customerID As 'Customer ID',
    ordernumbers.createdon As 'Date Ordered'
    orders_shoppingcart.OrderedProductSKU 'Ordered Product Sku'
    orders_shoppingcart.quantity 'Quantitiy Ordered'
    orders_shoppingcart.OrderedProductPrice As 'Product Ordered Price'
    From ordersordernumbersorders_shoppingcart
    where Orders
    .OrderNumber OrderNumbers.OrderNumber AND Orders.OrderNumber Orders_ShoppingCart.Ordernumber  AND OrderNumbers.createdon XXXXXXXXX
replace the XXXXXXXX with the date you want to have. Alternatively you can go by Order Number which may be a better solution:

    C#/VB.NET Code:
    Select orders.OrderNumber As 'Order Number',
    orders.orderID As 'Order ID'
    Orders.customerID As 'Customer ID',
    ordernumbers.createdon As 'Date Ordered'
    orders_shoppingcart.OrderedProductSKU 'Ordered Product Sku'
    orders_shoppingcart.quantity 'Quantitiy Ordered'
    orders_shoppingcart.OrderedProductPrice As 'Product Ordered Price'
    From ordersordernumbersorders_shoppingcart
    where Orders
    .OrderNumber OrderNumbers.OrderNumber AND Orders.OrderNumber Orders_ShoppingCart.Ordernumber  AND Orders.orderid XXXXX
Where Order id is the range you want to pull.

Version 1.92 has been released: http://www.simrun.com/AspDotNetStore...Commander.aspx

    here are the bug fixes:

Version 1.92 has been released: http://www.simrun.com/AspDotNetStore...Commander.aspx

    here are the bug fixes:

    1.
Fixedissues with Update and Delete not working, these now work properly.

    2.
Added the ability to use Product SKU instead of product ID when performing updates/inserts/deletes. If you don’t specify a productID AND are using unique SKUS, the commander software will be able to figure out your productid or variantID based on the sku or the skusuffix.

    3.
Fixed issue with Google Base feed not exporting, the feed will now generate properly. NOTE the feed will generate based on the interval, selecting UPLOAD file will not create the feed, it will simply upload it to Google Base.

    4.
Fixed issue with Export Product ID range and Date. This was a bug that was introduced in version 1.8 and has now been resolved, the Export system will work properly with the date or product ID range. Previously you could only export if you did not specify the date/product ID range.

    5.
Added XML dump logging ability, you can now see what commands the Aspdnsf Commander software is sending to the Storefront’s WSI system. These files are saved in your log folder as “XML_DUMP_DATE_TIME”

    6.
Fixed issues with scheduled Exports, a file permission bug was stopping the Aspdnsf Commander from creating an export file.

*Please note, if you are using windows Vista/Windows 7 please reply to this thread and let us know if you are on a 32-BIT system or 64-BIT.

Hi Please make sure you have the WSI system installed properly:

Some people are having issues with connecting to the WSI system, this can be fixed by 1 of 2 ways:

We have found that leaving step 1, 2, and 4 COMMENTED in the webconfigl and only uncommenting step 3 can fix issues on some v8 websites.

If this does not work, then do the following:

    https://support.aspdotnetstorefront....barticleid=389

By applying this fix you should now be able to connect to the WSI system interface

    Hi,

We're using the commander for the first time to import product records....I've had a test run using the data fields that I believe I need, but nothing seems to have happened.

    My fields are:

    Product name
    Product type
    Manufacturer
    Distributor
    Product SKU
    Product xml package
    Product description
    Variant name
    Product SE title
    Product SE keywords
    Product SE description
    Product SE alt text
    Variant price
    Variant sale price
    Variant colors
    Variant sizes
    Varient inventory

My question is can I create a product using these fields, or are there other essential fields that I need?

I guess things like mapping, images etc need to be done manually?

    Thank you

    Hi Snowy,

I looked at your file and looks like excel or your speadsheet program put everything into 1 column! This can happen sometimes based on the language setting you have set in office 2003/2007 where the comma character is replaced with something else. Consequently, when you try to open that csv file it will display everything in 1 column which will not work with the commander.

Please fix this and try again.

ALSO please sure you have added category information, right now your products aren't mapped to any category, so while they will still get imported into the storefront they won't show up your website underneath any category (you can still search for these items, however).

    Thanks

    Hi,

It should be back up. Please not Vista / Windows 7 users:

We have a new version 1.95 that fixes issues with the save as dialog box not appearing on EXPORTS. ALSO if you are getting a TEST CONNECTION FAILED, look at page 3 of this thread.

Yes its back up, sorry we were waiting for 1.95 to fix the save as dialog box fix so disabled registrations temporarily.

Note you don't need a key to test the software, only if you need to process more than 50 records.

    Hello,

First off this program is very handy and free so big thanks for that.

Currently having an issue importing though. I have about 10 categories and many of them have sub categories with the same name, \Air Control\Assembly and \Heater\Assembly for example. When importing to a given sub category of Assembly it will always be put in the \Heater\Assembly sub category regardless of what parent directory is listed in my csv import file.

I'm not sure if this is a syntax issue within the CSV file, error with the commander software or something hinky with my aspdnsf site/database.

If you have any clues would be much appreciated, even just knowing it's not your software causing the issue will help me narrow down my search for the cause.

    Thanks again!

We are trying to get this app listed on the Marketplace, if you have used this app and found it helpful, please reply to this thread with your comments/suggestions. The goal is to keep the price of the app to $0.00 and have it still eligible for the marketplace.

Hmm sorry for the multiple postings earlier.

The new version worked like a charm.

Thank you for the great support with this product.

This app is crucial in allowing the people in our company who maintains the products in our database to import changes to our storefront even though they are daunted by dealing with any sort of XML.

This is the only add-on app we've used or needed with our aspdnsf site and it's made things much easier for us. There have been very few issues with the software, and when problems have arisen, they were quickly addressed by the tech support staff. I think this program should definitely be listed on the marketplace.

I made a test file to import and there is only one product in it. I changed the price of that product and imported it and a few minutes later refreshed the page on the website and it was updated. Then I went back in the csv file changed the price back to what it is supposed to be and submitted it for import again. I refreshed the page in the shopping cart a few minutes later and the price was changed. My problem comes in that I have no idea via your software if the import is finished or not.

Is there an alert that says the import is done?

If not, were I to do a thousand products at once how will I know when the import is done processing?

If I am only doing an import to update prices on a few products what should I put for the Process Interval? I will only need this update to run once.

Is there an ETA on a manual or user guide or FAQ for this add-on?

My client is looking for an easy way to update most/all the products in their store. They have 4 storefronts that need updated and she doesn't know XML or anything of the sort, so I need to provide for her a product that can easily be used by someone with basic computer knowledge. Can this application do that?

    Hi,

the goal is to have a FULL video/written manual, but as of now we have a simple faq: http://www.simrun.com/AspDotNetStore...Commander.aspx

Starting with version 2.0.3 we are introducing FULL multistore support and a completely re-written core with new GUI that improves status handling, windows threading and other options that make the app more polished. This will be available on the Official Market place and will start at $99.99 but include 1 year support from us. The multistore version will be $299.

Version 1.X will remain free but will not be supported by us. We'll have updates for you shortly, in the meantime, contact our support guys to see what they can do.

Your support guys say that they won't help me unless I pay $100 for the support package, which is why I came here to see if anyone could answer my questions. I'm not going to pay $100 for a product that could be too difficult for my client to use. She isn't stupid but her computer skills are very, very basic.

My questions are not worth $100 to me right now. If my client likes this program then we will probably pay for the multi-store version, but if no one is willing to help me we're going to look for another program. I don't mind paying for a good program, but so far the impression I've gotten from the people on your support team is that your company only cares about money.

If there were an Manual or User Guide I imagine that my questions would be answered in there or that it would at least explain what things do so that I could figure out the answers on my own.

The program creates a text file in the "LOGS" folder on your computer.
(The LOGS file was created during installation, it will create a file after every import to show you what was imported, etc)
Just open it during the import and you can see the status of the import, if it is blank you will know something went wrong, it will also give you error messages if the file wasn't correct.

    Exclamation WSI not working

I have tried to get WSI to connect to Comander by Simrun and it appears I have not installed the WSI correctly.
I followed the instructions in the manual/wsi, installing the MS utility on the server and workstations, uncommented the config.web, etc. and I cannot connect to Commander.
I even added the #define statement in the ASPDNSFUserNameTokenManager and anything else I could find in the forums, manual, and knowledgebase.

Does anyone have an idea of what I might be missing? Is it something I have to set in IIS? An Appconfig?

Any help would be appreciated as others seem to install and use WSI without a problem.

I am using 9.01.3 multistore with Admin update and version 1.99 commander.

Rich Version 2.X only support multistore, 1.X does not, this is because we need to pass the store ID for products/entities and WSI does not support this so we accomplish this VIA a sql command.

Also check page 3 of this thread, more than likely you haven't set your webconfig properly.

    Default Manual

I like the idea of this program, but a couple things confuse me. When I try to do an import it tells me:
Import Service has been Started at 2/18/2011 2:20:34 PM
Now when I go to my log folder it is not showing anything, nothing processed and no errors. I will get it figured out, I didn't get the support in hopes that 2.0 comes out soon and I will get that. It would be completely worth it to me to get this, especially once a manual comes out

    My experience with this item:

Requested a license. No response. Ever. This is the second time. I've also emailed them twice regarding the initial offering last year. Ignored wholesale. Odd.

The application has never worked. Limited error reporting. No indication of whether an import has been accepted or not (only that it has been processed). I know the WSI code well -we have our own ERP sync application that uses it - so technical ignorance is an unlikely explanation.

Considering we would've had no problem purchasing this item for quick product loads, it seems like an odd business model. Par for the course with this particular market segment. Except for Jan S.

    YMMV.

    Default Commander Fields

How can I export the product URL using the commander? It is not in the list of parameters to export.

I would recommend you try R2 version: http://www.aspdotnetstorefront.com/p...commander.aspx , in our initial release reporting was not very good and their were threading issues (realize this app grow from a GUI-less windows service to what it is today) but these have resolved as R2 is a complete code re-write. Regarding your request for keys, please note, almost 800 free keys for version 1.XX were given out, however, their are always some people that don't complete the forum we had online requesting keys, these requests were redirected to complete the online forum for keys.

Beginning with R2, distribution of the application is now handled by Vortx in the Market Place. We no longer offer the software to the public form our side. This is to ensure any customer that uses the software has support so they can ask us any questions they have.

Storefront does not store the URL in the database, instead it uses a field called SENAME from which a URL is created, the default url format is:

    P + "-" + PRODUCTID + "-" + SENAME + ".aspx"

The reason why the whole url is not stored is because you can change the way urls are handled inside the webconfig file. Because of this only parts of the url are stored in the database, however, if you export all the fields you can recreate the url.

Looks to me like "Free" is a nebulous term.

Commander is now on the Marketplace: http://www.aspdotnetstorefront.com/p...commander.aspx please note Free items can not be listed on the marketplace so we are now bundling it with our support plan. Our support plan always had a charge associated with, so that is not changed. We don't charge for the software we do charge for the support, I hope this clears up any confusion as I am not able to edit the title of the thread.

You can modify the query to name the columns as you needed, just change what ever is inside the quotes.

Copy this, paste it into the sql tab, then chose to save the query, as an XML file. Now go to your export schedule and import this xml file, set an interval and you can now have the commander execute the query at the interval you wish.

I have to agree, "Free" seems to mean a free trial limited to 50 records and no batch proccessing, Please correct the thread title.

It really does astonish me that the storefront does not come with a native product exporter already!

Sorry about this guys, this thread is actually quite old. We intially gave the program away and charged only for support but than realized support is almost mandatory so came up with a pricing scheme that includes this.

In the mean time, however, you are free to use R3 version of our software which is free to use with no restrictions up until December 15th 2012:
