Default New Pricing Feeds

We are working now on new product/pricing feed XmlPackages for:

amazon,
yahoo shopping,
pricegrabber,
shopping.com, and
shopzilla (bizrate).

Anyone with support contracts will have access to them. They "should" work with any v7.0 storefront or higher...ETA a week or so...

Thanks.

We have feeds from Dev, should be posted in the updates page on our main site as an add-on type set of files you can deploy.

Keep in mind, that we have created the feeds as given to apply to as many types of stores/sites as possible, but due to the nature of feeds and the shopping site requirements, you may have to customize the feeds to match your/their own requirements, so keep that in mind.

I hope to have this posted by tonight (Monday PT)

Feeds provided in attached download zip. Installation instructions included. Feeds are provided "as-is"...as most feeds need to be customized for each particular store site, and the feed target sites change their requirements OFTEN...use these as a starting point.

We will continue to provide support for the Googlebase feed in Customer Support.

The other feeds are only supported here in the forums.

Starting (sample) free feeds are provided for:

Yahoo!
pricegrabber
shopping.com
shopzilla and
amazon

Feeds were tested using "some" test data on v7.0.2.3 ML code base. Your mileage may vary...and you may have to customize the feeds for your own unique site/product requirements and/or listing requirements with each target site.

Feeds.zip updated 11/30/2007 with new install instructions for new web.config element required. no package mods.

Default Error using feeds

I'm getting this error when I try to execute a feed:

XmlPackage Exception: Exception=Last Trace Point=[]. Cannot find the script or external object that implements prefix 'urn:feed'.

System.ArgumentException: Last Trace Point=[]. Cannot find the script or external object that implements prefix 'urn:feed'.

at AspDotNetStorefrontCommon.XmlPackage2.TransformStr ing() in c:\...\ASPDNSFCommon\XmlPackage2.cs:line 620

I copied the XmlParse.cs to the appcode.

Are there any webconfig settings that are needed like mentioned in this thread?

Lightbulb Google Base Google Sitemap

The Google Base package (feed.googlebase.xml) can also be uploaded through the Google Sitemap control panel.

It is read as an RSS feed without any error...

The number of products indexed is correctly shown and takes less than 15 minutes

The googlebase feed file can be used in conjunction with the Google Sitemap Webmaster system.

googlebase feed file/v6.1/Web/Admin/XmlPackages/feed.googlebase.xml.config (old version)

I'm currently working with the Yahoo feed. I ran the GoogleBase feed before and after installing the new packages and it ran fine both times.

Sorry I didn't included that info previously

Ok, I had made this mod, but forgot to put it in the install docs. Just add this to your web.config file

Code:
<xsltobjects defaultExtension="">
<extensions>
<clear/>
<add name="Feed Extensions" type="AspDotNetStorefrontCommon.XmlParse" namespace="urn:feed"/>
</extensions>
</xsltobjects>
the new line is this one:

Code:
<add name="Feed Extensions" type="AspDotNetStorefrontCommon.XmlParse" namespace="urn:feed"/>
below the <clear/>

no wonder I couldn't reproduce this here...

zip updated (4th post in thread, updated 11/30/2007 with revised install instructions). no package mods.

Yep If you read through the installation steps the web.config settings are in there...

Code:
Add this line to your web.config, just below the <clear/> line in the
<xsltobjects> section:
<add name="Feed Extensions"
type="AspDotNetStorefrontCommon.XmlParse" namespace="urn:feed"/>
e.g.:

<xsltobjects defaultExtension="">
<extensions>
<clear/>
<add name="Feed Extensions"
type="AspDotNetStorefrontCommon.XmlParse" namespace="urn:feed"/>
</extensions>
</xsltobjects>

Default VB Version?

When tring to utilize these files, I get the following error
The files '/App_Code/XmlParse.cs' and '/App_Code/SkinBase.vb' use a different language, which is not allowed since they need to be compiled together.
IS there a vb version of XmlParse available somewhere? I looked on the main site but could not find.

Thank You

You can create a new folder under the app_code folder, called "Feeds", and place the XmlParse.cs file in there.

To make your website aware of the folder, add these lines to \web\web.config, under the <compilation> tag:
Code:
<codeSubDirectories>
<add directoryName="Feeds"/>
</codeSubDirectories>

Have you declared a namespace called "feed" in your XMLPackage? The error indicates that you haven't registered anything to implement that namespace. This is typically done in the <xsltobjects>-section of web.config.

So far the only way I can replicate the error is by not having the same namespace defined in the web.config setting as I have in my stylesheet element.

What does your stylesheet element look like?

in order for your package to use your extension you have to inlcude its namespace, for instance in your stylesheet element:

Code:
<stylesheet xmlns:myfeed="urn:feed">

<xsl:variable name="foo" select="myfeed:my_extension_function()" />
</stylesheet>

I don't understand what your trying to give us here. You've posted two different xml packages and one error message with no association asw to which package the error is coming from.
All I can tell you is that you must declare your extension's namespace in every xml package that will be using it.

Default Problem in creating feeds

hi
I have encountered the following problem while creating the feeds:

D:\BlueLion\Work\MLVBDemo\ASPDNSFCommon\AppL ogic.vb:line
My version is AspDotNetStorefront ML 7.1.0.0/7.1.0.0

XmlPackage Exception: Exception=Last Trace Point=[]. Cannot find the script or external object that implements prefix 'urn:feed'.

System.ArgumentException: Last Trace Point=[]. Cannot find the script or external object that implements prefix 'urn:feed'.

at AspDotNetStorefrontCommon.XmlPackage2.TransformStr ing()
at AspDotNetStorefrontCommon.AppLogic.RunXmlPackage(X mlPackage2 p, Parser UseParser, Customer ThisCustomer, Int32 SkinID, Boolean ReplaceTokens, Boolean WriteExceptionMessage) in D:\BlueLion\Work\MLVBDemo\ASPDNSFCommon\AppLogic.v b:line 830
I have added the required code in web.config file:
Code:
<xsltobjects defaultExtension="">
<extensions>
<clear/>
<add name="Feed Extensions" type="AspDotNetStorefrontCommon.XmlParse" namespace="urn:feed"/>
</extensions>
</xsltobjects>
i have also followed all the steps required.

My XmlPackage is as given:
Code:

Default Problem with VB version

I get a "Cannot find the script or external object that implements prefix 'urn:feed'." error with VB version 7.1.0.0.

I've tried both a VB-converted version of XmlParse.cs in the app_code version and the original cs version in a feeds directory.

Any suggestions?

Regards

John

I just finished testing the feed.zip download in ML 7.1 cs and vb versions.
I had no problems either way.

Some one email me their version of XmlParse.vb.

I only have the XmlParse.cs

Hi Rex

I've put that DLL in the bin folder but still the same error.

Here's my VB version which I had sitting in the App_Code/feeds folder.

Yes, I see that. It works compiled into the AspDotNetStorefrontCommon.dll but not as a separate assembly dll. I will try breaking it out into its own namespace and assembly and see if that works. Maybe there is some assembly/namespace conflict going on.

Remove the DLL I posted and put the XmlParse.cs back into a App_Code\Feeds directory

Then try adding a codeSubDirectories element to your web.config's compilation section:

Code:
<compilation debug="true">
<codeSubDirectories>
<add directoryName="Feeds" />
</codeSubDirectories>
</compilation>
This should tell .Net to make a separate assembly of that directory and allow the mixture of VB and C# being used in App_Code

If this does not work for you, please submit a support ticket. You may be encountering a known issue that requires a fix be sent to you.

EnricoBozzetti,

I contacted Misakko and sent them the feed files, and they were able to get it fixed and working for me.

I think they charged $175

Default XSLT namespace expansion

I could not get the XML Packages to find my new functions.
ASPDNSF Support said that the VB version of the VB version of the code needs a minor modification to work correctly.

If you do not have the source code, you can contact support for a new dll.

In XsltObjects\ExtensionConfiguration.vb find the following four lines.
Line numbers are approximate:
-------------------------------------------------
(I don't know if this one is important)
Code:
29: Private _Extensions As New Hashtable()
replace with
Code:
Private _Extensions As Hashtable = New Hashtable()
------------------------------------------------
Code:
32: If child.Name Is "extensions" Then
replace with
Code:
If "extensions".Equals(child.Name, StringComparison.InvariantCultureIgnoreCase) Then
------------------------------------------------
Code:
40: If extension.Name Is "add" Then
replace with
Code:
If "add".Equals(extension.Name, StringComparison.InvariantCultureIgnoreCase) Then
------------------------------------------------
Code:
42: ElseIf extension.Name Is "remove" Then
replace with
Code:
ElseIf "remove".Equals(extension.Name, StringComparison.InvariantCultureIgnoreCase) Then
------------------------------------------------
Code:
44: ElseIf extension.Name Is "clear" Then
replace with
Code:
ElseIf "clear".Equals(extension.Name, StringComparison.InvariantCultureIgnoreCase) Then
------------------------------------------------
Again, if you do not have source code access, contact support and they can send you a new DLL.
Using ASPDotNetStoreFront since Version 3
Got Version 9.
Almost ready to deploy MultiStore (final testing stages for the new FirstData gateway)
Finally upgraded our server to 2008 R2.

We are trying to create a feed for pricerunner, however they need the category of each item.

We have have every other part of the feed working apart from the categories.
So far we have tried to add this SQL to the feed to call the category name for each item.

Here is the SQL code we are trying to add (Not sure if it is correct)
Code:
select productID, categoryID, name
from product, productcategory, category
where category.categoryID = productcategory.categoryID
and productcategory.productID = product.productID
and here is the SQL at the moment (the feed we are editing is based off the Google feed)

Code:

SELECT p.ProductID, pv.VariantGUID, p.Name, p.Summary, isnull(pv.Name, '') VariantName, p.Description, p.SEName, p.ImageFilenameOverride,

isnull(p.SKU, '') ProductSKU, isnull(p.ManufacturerPartNumber, '') ProductMPN, isnull(pv.SKUSuffix, '') ProductVariantSKUSuffix,

isnull(pv.ManufacturerPartNumber, '') ProductVariantMPN, isnull(p.FroogleDescription, '') ProductFroogleDescription, p.SEKeywords, isnull(pv.Price, 0)

ProductVariantPrice, isnull(pv.SalePrice, 0) SalePrice, isnull(pv.FroogleDescription, '') VariantFroogleDescription, isnull(pv.Description, '') VariantDescr,

isnull(m.Name, '') ManufacturerName, isnull(pv.Weight, 0) ProductVariantWeight
FROM dbo.Product p INNER JOIN
dbo.ProductVariant pv ON p.ProductID = pv.ProductID LEFT OUTER JOIN
(SELECT VariantID, SUM(Quan) inventory
FROM dbo.Inventory
GROUP BY VariantID) i ON pv.VariantID = i.VariantID INNER JOIN
dbo.ProductManufacturer pn ON p.ProductID = pn.ProductID INNER JOIN
dbo.Manufacturer m ON pn.ManufacturerID = m.ManufacturerID
WHERE (p.IsSystem = 0) AND (p.Deleted = 0) AND (p.Published = 1) AND (p.ExcludeFromPriceFeeds = 0) AND (CASE p.TrackInventoryBySizeAndColor WHEN

1 THEN isnull(i.inventory, 0) ELSE pv.inventory END >= @HideProductsWithLessThanThisInventoryLevel)

Are we entering in the right SQL? if so where should it be entered.

Many thanks.

I am on V 7.1.0.0. and am trying to set up a Yahoo Shopping feed.

I have checked and double checked my Yahoo account settings and I have all the FTP connection info set up but the file that kicks out has no products, only a message:

XmlPackage Exception: Exception=Last Trace Point=[]. An error occurred during a call to extension function 'ConvertToNodeSet'. See InnerException for a complete description of the error.

Data at the root level is invalid. Line 1, position 1.

System.ArgumentException: Last Trace Point=[]. Line 1, position 1.

at AspDotNetStorefrontCommon.AppLogic.RunXmlPackage(X mlPackage2 p, Parser UseParser, Customer ThisCustomer, Int32 SkinID, Boolean ReplaceTokens, Boolean WriteExceptionMessage)
I see "Data at the root level is invalid" - Does this mean it can't find any products? I have several products mapped to the Yahoo Affiliate.

The feed is set to use the "feed.yahoo.xml.config" XML Package. Is this a bug with my version or something wrong with the XML Package itself perhaps?

I was able to get my Google Base feed to work perfectly but this one is giving me a hard time.

Any insight anyone can offer would be much appreciated.

TIA,
Jay

This error means that the XML data in "Extension Data" for one or more of your products is bad.

Open the feed.yahoo.xml.config and read the section at the top about extra feed data.
I don't know about the Yahoo feed specifically, but many feeds require extra data which should be saved in the ExtensionData field.

For your reference, I am pasting it here:

The issue was with a VB conversion that occurred when translating AspDotNetStorefront from C#. In the XSLTObjects/ExtensionConfiguraion.vb file, there are 4 lines that have been changed to use a String ".Equals", with a case-ignorant string comparison type.

Thanks,

got the following compiler error trying to install this on my 8.0.1.2 ML today:

Compiler Error Message: CS0246: The type or namespace name 'XSLTExtensionBase' could not be found
Source Error:

Line 11: {
Line 12:
Line 13: public class XmlParse : XSLTExtensionBase
Line 14: {
Line 15: public XmlParse(Customer cust, int SkinID) : base(cust, SkinID)

Source File: d:\MYSITETHISWASEDITED\wwwroot\App_Code\XmlParse.c s Line: 13

i:
1.) allowed write permissions to the server
2.) uploaded the 5 xml feed packages to the admin/xmlpackages folder
3.) uploaded the xmlparse.cs file to the wwwroot/App_code/ folder

at this point the whole site crashed

i did not follow the instructions after the upload xmlparse.cs file:
4.) run extrafeeds.sql to setup
5.) add the requested instruction line to web.config:

<xsltobjects> section:
<add name="Feed Extensions"
type="AspDotNetStorefrontCommon.XmlParse" namespace="urn:feed"/>
e.g.:

<xsltobjects defaultExtension="">
<extensions>
<clear/>
<add name="Feed Extensions"
type="AspDotNetStorefrontCommon.XmlParse" namespace="urn:feed"/>
</extensions>
</xsltobjects>

my question - should i have continued with the instructions even after the xmlparse.cs file crashed my site or do i have an existing problem to resolve?

i deleted the xmlparse.cs from the server, retouched the site, and the site was fine again.

how should i proceed here? these feeds are tough. i wish full support was offered. heck, i'd pay $50/year to maintain them as part of my contract.

thanks

XmlParse.cs is written for ML7.
Some classes were moved in ML8.

I do not have ML8, but I think if you change the references to ASPDNSFCommon to ASPDNSFCore, it might work.
Maybe someone with ML8 can confirm this?

thanks!

in XmlParse.cs you must change the 1 instance of AspDotNetStorefrontCommon to AspDotNetStorefrontCore

next, run the sql script

next, edit your web config. the pdf instructions state to add this to a specific part of web.config:

<add name="Feed Extensions"
type="AspDotNetStorefrontCommon.XmlParse" namespace="urn:feed"/>

i changed "AspDotNetstorefrontCommon.Xmlparse" to "AspDotNetstorefrontCore.Xmlparse"

after that i followed all the steps and did a web.config retouch, i could see the new feeds added into admin/feeds (ML 8.0.1.2/8.0.1.2)

from there i was able to spit out some feeds via aspdnsf admin.

a few notes:
the amazon feed (the only one we really wanted) is a bit of a mess as far as i can tell. the others look workable. for some reason the shopping.com feed spit out as XML whereas the rest were tab delimited text files.

i love ASPDNSF, but man i wish they kept this stuff updated and were a bit more on the ball for feeds and multi channel friendliness. this stuff is totally over the head of most non coders. for us multichannel is the future, and it's frustrating to keep getting referred to 3rd party (channelworks) or mods that take me "out of code update friendliness/ out of the immediate ASPDNSF circle" to their core product and by process, core audience. i recognize that updated feeds and multi channel functionality cost time and money, but everything i know/read in 10 years of selling on tells me this is already a "must-have" feature.

thanks

I am in the middle of implementing an Amazon feed using DTS to get the data right from the DB instead of processing it through ASPDNSF.
Amazon requires a very difficult to use format for most of their feeds and parsing and fixing the error messages returned is also very hard (although I finally managed to create a service on the computer that does it automatically).

Default New Pricing Feeds

This thread goes back for sometime, does anyone have the most updated price threads in a zip file that they don't mind sharing before I tackle this? Thx

The feeds posted originally are a guideline. They were not made to be used in a production environment with out modification.

If you are asking for feeds that people are using in a production environment, you may want to start a new thread.

Default Having problem generating google feed for 16,000 products

Has anyone run google feed successfully for 15,000+ products? We tried running the google feed both on a local dedicated server with only 1 concurrent user, as well as on a cloud server farm and both gave us error saying that it did not have enough resource to run the feed.

My suggestion for feed in the future is to have it write to file for every 1000 products so that it frees up memory.

What version of the software are you using? The last few versions break the export up into batches to prevent exactly that.

Default Google feed for 15000+ products

We're running ASPDNSF ML 8.0.1.2 with the new Google feed update that ASPNSF released to accommodate product "condition" such as "new" or "used".

When we're running it on the local server, it generates the feed text file. But the file is only 1Kbyte and when you open the file, it only has 1 line that says "Exception=Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown.
"

When we're running it on the cloud server farm, it'd generate about 2/3 of the products (about 11,000 products) with all their appropriate XML tags and then get the memory error.

Thanks.

Running 8.0.1.2 looks like the feed is just grabbing the first 1000 items or so - what do you mean the export is being broken in to batches I only see 1 file being sent to google - what I'm I missing?

I'm also interested in a working Amazon feed. The only download I've been able to find is the one posted by Admin on the first page of this thread in 2007. Is there an updated feeds file available for download elsewhere?

I am also new to setting up the price feeds and I pretty much have the GoogleBase feed working now after asking support for the latest update. Is there an area where customers with current support contracts can download all the other feeds? Or do I have to email support and ask for them?

Nevermind, just find this post:

In fact, one of the reasons it’s taken us a little longer to put this new custom feed in places is because they had to do a significant amount of software development and configuration on their end to make this work for us.

Why? Because it’s custom. You won’t find a price feed like this advertised on their website and is not available anywhere else. They literally put additional infrastructure in place in order to provide this feed we’ve negotiated. (that’s what you can do with a large membership) Here’s the short version …We now have a second custom price feed. The new price feed is commission based with a 1 pip commission per round trip lot, but also has significantly lower spreads. In fact, even when you factor back in the 1 pip commission I’m confident you’ll notice a significant improvement.

I’m pretty busy and am certainly not in a position to compare our new feed with every broker on the planet, but I am very confident we have some of the best spreads available! How to get access to the new feed? If you’re a already trading with GallantFX using our initial price feed then the feed you are on is known as the “BTM” feed. The new commission based feed is known as the “BTM_E” feed.

To switch to the new feed simply email GallantFX and give them your account info, tell them you’re from the FAP Turbo Expert Guide and that you want to be on the “BTM_E” price feed. That’s it. A simple email is all it takes. Now, if you were not already trading on our custom price feed you’ll have to hang tight for one more day. We’re putting a new web page together with all the detailed info and special links to open accounts with this new feed. This will be available in a day.

Default Not using ASPDNSF

I had developed feeds for most of those in summer 2008, but the company I work for has found, after a lot of time in testing, that ASPDNSF Feeds do not give us nearly as much flexibility as generating the feeds right from the SQL database.
Generating from SQL directly is many times faster and we have a better turnaround time for new feeds (although that could just be who we are).
Unfortunately, the company has a policy of removing any unused code to keep our deployments simple, so I don't have anything for you.

All I can say is besides for the Amazon feed, they are very straightforward.
The amazon feed makes dealing with variants rather difficult (in my opinion) and our feed was never 100% functional (when we made it using ASPDNSF).

Got Version 9.

Default Error

I too am receiving the following error in V9 after running the sql to the db, and inserting the files necessary in order to utilize the feeds. I would guess because the instructions for the feed setup and files are for v7 and we are now in v9.

Does someone have updated installation instructions like Rob fave in the beginning of this post, except that will work for v9?

The error I get is similar the previous::

The type or namespace name 'XSLTExtensionBase' could not be found.

Thanks for any help.
James

Bump,
We're using MSx v9.1.0.1 and wanted to use these feeds and any others we can find. Where can we download them with updated instructions?

This thread is now 3.5 years old.

The feeds did not work 100% out of the box, they needed other setup work to make them generate valid feeds.
Also, I am pretty sure the Google Base feed (and maybe others) is completely different and would need to be totally rewritten.
I have not heard of anyone who got the feeds working on V8, much less V9.

I think it is time to move on...

Got Version 9.

Finally upgraded our server to 2008 R2.

Default Product Feeds XMLpackages

I have MultiStore 9.1.0.1/9.1.0.0. I only see ExchangeRate and GoogleBase product feeds in the list. Does this sound right? If so, how do I find/buy additional product feeds for other shopping comparison sites?

Thanks,
Nathan

This thread is about ML7 and goes back about 3 1/2 years.
I would suggest starting a new thread in the MS9 section.

Let's all chip in and hire a team of developers out of MIT so we can build a couple of feeds. Or, another option would be for the experts at Vortex to do that for us and just let us download the file each time it changes.

I'm good either way

Can someone please un sticky this. It is extremely unhelpful because it is 4 years old. Cant someone please close threads if they are not used for 1 year or something. Almost all of the threads in this section are up to 3 years old an do not have much helpful information in them.

They are still here because it establishes the foundation of how to accomplish the task.. It would almost be better to delete the messages which do not further the technical content of this thread..

This is a forum for developers of e-commerce websites. I don't think you quite understand what this is for.
If you are looking for pricing for aspdotnetstorefront software, you can find it at http://www.aspdotnetstorefront.com/.
If you are looking for pricing for something else, then we can't help you here.
