    Default Monthly Maintenance Reminder

Just a reminder that you all should be running the monthly maintenance for your storefronts. Make sure your clients also know to do this.

This helps prune out old data that just is not needed to be kept (e.g. there is no need to keep credit card numbers, even if encrypted fully, beyond 30, or at most, 60 days). There just is no need.

The monthly maintenance is found in your admin site under. Misc -> Monthly Maintenance or by clicking the "Monthly Maintenance" link on your admin home page.

You should get in the habit of performing this monthly. This just keeps the storefront db humming along smoothly over time, so please do not ignore doing this simple step. It takes 1-5 minutes/month.

Is there any way to schedule this to run automatically once a month?

At this time there's no way to schedule it to run automatically with 'out of the box' functionality. But, it would make a nice custom mod.....

On a dedicated server running a "paid" edition of SQL Server (Workgroup, Standard, etc...Express excluded) you can schedule the aspdnsf_MonthlyMaintenance stored procedure execution using the SQL Server Agent. I think that there is no need to make any custom mod to the site...am I missing something?
If you run the Express Edition, you can schedule the job by using the sqlcmd utility and .cmd files.

I also can't see any reason why you couldnt use the Windows Task Scheduler and the osql utility to run the stored procedure or a custom script to kick off the stored procedure.

No custom modification required, just lateral thinking!
