Default Important! Verify your Google sitemaps!

For some reason or another Google is now rejecting sitemaps that are marked as disallow in the robots.txt file. We are not sure why they have chosen to do that, as the robots.txt file is only supposed to be utilized by automated crawlers. The googleindex.aspx pages in AspDotNetStorefront are specifically created for manual submission only, not to be crawled. Google however now feels it necessary to check the robots.txt file page even though you have to explicitly submit the googleindex pages on your store.

They also now "Strongly Recommend" that you add a snippet of HTML in a special html file on your site for verification purposes. More details can be found on their Websmaster Tools site by going to: http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools

You should also remove the following lines from the robots.txt file in the root of your site if they exist:

    Disallow: /googleentity.aspx
    Disallow: /googleindex.aspx
    Disallow: /googletopics.aspx
    Disallow: /yahooindex.aspx
    Disallow: /yahooentity.aspx

Default Google XML Site Map question

    1. google requires a xml site map and I need to type the path of the xml file in google webmaster tool.
I saw ML version features-> Search Engine Features ->

Google Xml Site Maps Supported: a direct Google search engine submission method sanctioned by Google
But I couldn't find that xml file in ML 7.0.
    has that xml file?

    2. I reveiwed some site map generators, each generator for appropriate program such as php, asp, asp.net 1.1, asp.net 2.0 etc.
    Does ML 7.0v use asp.net 2.0?

    Any suggestion?

    Thanks!

    Jerry

We support those. The url you submit to google is https://www.yoursite.com/GoogleIndex.aspx
