Question Adding additional requirements at checkout

I work for a non-profit organization and we sell publications and have both organizational and individual memberships. What I am trying to do is to require all orders for Membership to fill out additional information. Whether this is done within another setting on the shop or through a pdf that they must complete to move forward (to later send off to us) it does not matter. But I wonder if this is possible to do since I do not want to change anything for the publication orders. The only change is for our Memberships.

    Any help will be appreciated!

Although it's at the product level rather than the order level, why not use the 'Requires Text Field' and 'Field Prompt' attributes for the Membership products on your site?

This way, anyone choosing a membership product will be asked for additional information (using Field Prompt as the title) which will be stored against that product in the order.
