    Default Template Question

What is the difference between the productTemplate.master, template.master and homeTemplate.master?

I understand what a template master is but is the home just for the home ? I guess just a basic explanation, please!

Well the software doesn't ship with those templates 'out of the box' so we can't tell you for certain, but it sounds like whoever designed your skin did something along the lines of this to let different parts of your site use different templates. That way the home page, for example, doesn't have to be laid out exactly the same as the rest of the site.

Home template is basically the homepage, the template master will usually be the left hand and horizontal areas and then all the other content from within the other xml packages sits within that place holder.

So you retain the menus but all the other pages (sign up, login, checkout, product, category etc) sit within that.
