Default GIF images converting to JPG?

We wanted to use GIF for our store products, but each time we add them, they appear to be converted into JPGs. Has anyone else seen this? If so, how can I fix it?

If you're using image resize, images will always be saved as JPGs. You'd need to turn those features off to keep the GIF extension.
