    Default Leftbar to show subcategories according to main category selected in horizontal menu

    Hi,

    I am in v8.0.xx. Just wondering if anyone did this customization before. Basically I would like to show main categories on horizontal menu, upon clicking on this menu item, the leftbar will show all its subcategories only. What happen now is showing all other categories but highlighting on the selected one(main) and expanding its subcategories.


    What I wish to achieve is like what has been done in this website:

    What is the best and easiest way to achieve this? Thanks.

    You'd have to modify a lot of code to get this to work properly. However, there are routines that generate lists of categories in the XML format that the menu needs. You can leverage that code to help you build what you need and then perhaps put some switching logic behind the template page to force the XML to update when the page is loaded or the category is changed.
