We are using ML v8.0.1.2 to develop our website and our users have noticed that the site takes a long time to load especially the shopping cart and subsequence pages. Please suggest what could be done to improve the performance.

Can you post your site's url to take a look?

There are couple of things here:
    - Are your DB and web server located on the same location
    - What type of hosting plan, dedicated or shared
    - what is the server specs
    - How many entities, products, etc
    - Have you tried running a profiler to check what part of the page is loading slow

    Yes

We use our own servers to host the websites.

Windows 2003 server, 2.33 ghz processor 1gb ram
    - How many entities, products, etc
    1 category and 7 products

We have not used a profiler but the pages are especially slow when you add an item to cart and the subsequent shopping pages.
