    Default Skinning in v9

I have just converted to v9 (still in test). The document "Skin Conversion Guide.doc" states:

"However, we will not be removing support for the old skinning engine. Instead we will support both old style skinning and MasterPage style skinning. The MasterPage feature also covers not only the templating part, but also converting most of the code-behind generated html presentation into user controls."

I am confused as to whether I can use the existing template.ascx (as is) in the older skin folder layouts. I would like to avoid converting and keeping it to the minimum for now. Is this possible or can I have to copy most of the layout to the template.master ?

    More insight would be helpfull.

    Thanks

Sounds like you're using the old skin conversion guide from the beta. The updated guide that was included in the production release has changed.

ML9 and higher no longer support the old skinning engine, just master pages.

    That explains it.

I am sure that I was looking at "ASPDNSF Skin Conversion Guide.doc" that came with ML version 9013.
