Smile ASPDNSF - COMMANDER! Import anything / export anything (products!)

    Hi All,

Please try out our new software app for ASPDNSF:
    http://www.simrun.com/AspDotNetStore...Commander.aspx

This is an APP designed for people that want to use the power of WSI but don't like making XML files. The app uses standard CSV files to export and import data from the product and variant tables.

It is currently in BETA, but we should have a production level version out shortly, one that will also include importing/exporting of customer information / products as well as GoogleBase/Shopping.com/Shopzilla feed submission automation.

NOTE: Before RUNNING THE APPLICATION look in your installation directory of your application and PLEASE EDIT the .config file with your login information. You do not need to supply a registration key the system will work in DEMO mode (however it can only process 10 rows of data for either import or export, registered versions do not have any limitation). NOTE THIS APPLICATION REQUIRES that the webservices system of ASPDNSF is installed and working correctly.

NOTE: We recommend making a backup of your data before running this application; and you must also agree that this software is provided with no warranties or guarantees.

    Thanks

The app will work properly with Version 7 (must include the wsi componenet) up to the latest version of V9.

    Pretty neat stuff.

Being that you posted this on a forum software that is open source wouldn't it be suitable to post the source code?

Most of it seems pretty straight forward but having the source code or an instruction manual might help the users know what is actually going on.

All in all it seems like a pretty powerful desktop app for ASPDNSF.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Chaz.

    Aspdnsf isn't open source

Sorry but this is a commercial app that will be released soon at a reasonable price.

You are correct. It isn't open source. But source code is available for their product. I was only making the suggestion because the UI doesn't make it clear what will happen when you use the program. A manual or source code might make people feel more comfortable using it.

Can you explain how to export a group of products by category or manufacturer? I only see the option to restrict by productID range or date created range.

Also, configuration is misspelled on one of the tabs

    Hi,

For that you need to write a SQL query in the SQL export tab where you can specify what information you need exported.

Alternatively, you can use the main tab, export all the info, then go to excel/open office calc and sort them the data by manufacturer.

Hi, is there the capability to import text fields with HTML code? When I want to import product descriptions, it would be nice to be able to use boldface, bullet points, and line breaks, instead of having all text in one big paragraph.

Just requested a key for this. Will test this on v9 to see how it goes.

This is a very easy to use, much needed program.
A couple of quick questions for anyone who has more experience using it.

Can you add items without having to name the default variant?
(We need a blank variant name, but I believe it will error without something in the Variantname column)

Is there anyway to encode HTML so it will pass through the converter and go into the description under html and just not text? (I got it to pass, but it showed as text....i.e. <br> <b> etc.

    Thanks in advance.
