Thread: Unable to Change Encrypt Key

Hi Peps,

For some reason when I try and change my encrypt key in the admin section it throws me the following error:

Exception=An error occurred loading a configuration file: Access to the path 'C:\inetpub\wwwroot\website\Web\jcl-4igr.tmp' is denied. (C:\inetpub\wwwroot\website\Web\web.config)
Access to the path 'C:\inetpub\wwwroot\website\Web\jcl-4igr.tmp' is denied.

I guess its an access to file issue but can someone tell me what permissions are required or if that is even the problem?

You need to give the .NET user account read/write/modify access to the entire /web folder while changing the encryptkey. As soon as that's done, set that back to just read.
