    Default SEO and multiple languages

    Hi!

    Our store has English as master locale but as we are also on the Swedish market, we have Swedish as a second locale.

    How do we create a powerful SEO for the Swedish version? Where can I find information about this? Or does anyone have any pointers and tips?

    You can't really get the same site indexed in multiple languages, as changing locales requires storing a cookie which web crawlers won't do. To really have both locales indexed well would require 2 separate sites, one in each language.

    Each page must have its own url, the search engines' basic unit of identity is the url. If you use the same URL for different language versions, google will only ever index the one URL and one language version and not see the rest. Although it MIGHT be technically possible using a url rewriting for each locale or something like that.

    e.g.
    www.mydomain.com/p-161-bodegas-caro-caro-2004.aspx?localesetting$es-es&localesetting=es-ES
    www.mydomain.com/p-161-bodegas-caro-caro-2004.aspx?localesetting$en-US&localesetting=en-US
