    Default Upgrade Question

    Silly question perhaps.

I just downloaded V9 and if I run the .exe what does it actually do? It won't overwrite my current code base will it? Will it simply create a brand new directory (install)?

Also, do I have to generate new license keys for DEV,STAGING, PROD?

    Thanks

Its just an extraction wizard to dump the contents onto your hard drive.

you will have to generate new keys- your old ones will still be available and don't suddenly invalidate just because you have upgraded.

Please please please make sure you read the instructions that appear during the extraction process, and in the upgrade document. You cannot just upgrade your live site as was previously done in the past. You must convert your skin(s) to masterpages (we've provided a document with instructions for doing so...it's mostly mechanical so won't be too much dev work) in order for the site to function.

No worries George, im NOT updating my live site. I have TONS of mods I need to slowly migrate over. Earliest I go LIVE with 9.x will be 3-6 months.

I just don't want to overwrite my local code and db.
