    Smile Paypal vs Google Checkout

    Hi

I want to add Paypal or Google Checkout to my website but haven't had any experience with either.

Does anyone know which is better or had a bad/good experience with either?

    Thanks

    Lindsay

This is kind of an endless debate really, there are arguments for one side or the other all over the place:

    ...etc

Google Checkout is usually cheaper (and can be made even cheaper if you combine it with AdWords) but doesn't support as many payment methods. PayPal is more widely known and supports some 'back end' features that Google doesn't (invoicing, for example) but doesn't provide as comprehensive fraud checking. And so on.

One thing to keep in mind is even if you decide to use PayPal for payments, don't forget about Google's other services. Website optimizer, Adwords, and Analytics are all useful tools that we support!

To chime in... we use both on our website partially because of the endless debate. Some people just will not do business with a PayPal account and the same applies to Google Checkout. Customers just need a choice.

Over half of our customers choose to use Paypal.

On the back side, Google is slightly easier to use than Paypal. Also, Google Checkout money goes directly to your bank account where as Paypal must be transferred.

We have had problems in the past with Google Checkout and shipping that they have been resolved by ASPDNSF support. The only outstanding issue we have with Google Checkout and ASPDNSF is that you can not currently use ASPDNSF gift certificates or coupons via GC. If you don't use ASPDNSF coupons its not an issue.

We will continue to use both under the philosophy that if someone wants to give us money, we want to provide a way that is acceptable to them for us to take it.

    Just my opinions...
