Default Google Analytics - Conversion Rate

Just curious if anyone looks at this report in GA and if so what is a "reasonable" conversion rate?

It all depends on the type of product, and who's numbers you care to believe.

~2-3% conversion is typically a good number for a store that competes with everyone else (IE: you're not selling a product that can only be obtained from you)

Can you elaborate on "whos numbers you care to believe"? Are you saying that the GA conversion numbers may, or may not be, skewed?

I think he meant the numbers on what's a 'reasonable' conversion rate - estimates vary based on the industry, your 'niche', customer location, etc.

...etc. Generally speaking for a "normal" site, the 2-3% stated earlier's about right.

Indeed, I believe Google's numbers, it strict math, you can't argue with that.

Its the question over, whats an acceptable conversion rate. Some say its 10%, some sat 5%, some say 50%. It varies wildly.

The average we see across several industries/niches is in the 3-5% range. Anything above this is very abnormal, but certain industries do have much higher rates.
