Thread: Question regarding exception mail

Hello, there. I have received more than 300 exception emails. The Exception Message of all exceptions are:"Invalid value for 'encryptedTicket' parameter".
I'm sure that this exceptions are caused by google while grabing data from my site. To my surprise, I do not find any errors after I pasted the URL of every exception.
I try to look into the C# code. Unlunkily, it is encrypted.

What's the problem and what can I do? How to handle it?

The only thing I've seen to stop this happening is to get your cookies cleared out, and then it should start to work ok. Looking at the stack trace, I do not seen any reference that's pointing to AspDotNetStorefront software, so this is more like just a cookie issue.

I get more and more exceptions like this these days.
I assume it is caused by authentication mode="Forms".

You said I should clear my cookies. I don't think so. These errors are from my server log, not my browser.

And I think this exceptions are occured while the search engine getting data from my site.

That caused by an expired or corrupted cookie in the customer's browser when the hit the site. It's not really a problem, the site just issues a new one. You can change the name of the cookie if you like, but over time you'll get it again. It happens, not really anything to worry about.

There's a good bit of info on this kind of message around online if you want to do some reading up on it.

How to replicate:
1) Log out of your site
2) Set your user-agent to googlebot (e.g. using Firebug's User Agent Switcher)
3) Try to sign in by submitting the form on the signin page.
4) Main page goes kaboom with this error. Cause appears to be an ASPDNSFGUID cookie with an empty value.

So far I've only been able to replicate when I'm browsing as googlebot, so I'm not too worried about it. Still, it's mildly concerning, because I get stuck in a state where all I can get are error messages, and I don't know what's special about googlebot.

You'll need to delete the ASPDNSFGUID cookie to get back to normal behavior.
