Thread: What does 'Remember password' do?

If the user selects the PersistLogin checkbox, what is supposed to happen?

It seems that it does just one thing: if the user does not log out, but closes the browser and/or reboots, then opens the browser and goes to the site, she remains logged in. Does it do anything else?

The thing that is confusing is that the default label string is "Remember password". That leaves the impression that if the user logs out then returns to the login page and types in her email address, the password will appear.

Here is a support link which may be helpful. It just places a cookie in order to authenticate them the next time if they didnt logout.

That's correct. Clicking the Remember Password checkbox just forces AspDotNetStorefront to create a persistent cookie rather than a non-persistent cookie.

Thanks for the information. I told our client to change the string resource to make it clearer to the visitor what the checkbox does.

Sorry for re-opening this topic. I just want to know if this still holds true with version 8.0? Or does the PersistLogin checkbox already works as "Remember Password" and not as "Remember Me"?
