Thread: Members post their own products

We're at the very initial stages of a negotiation with a client that would like their members to be able to log into the ecomm site and post their own products for sale (perhaps in a customized admin?). I'm sure it will require ASPDNSF customization, but wondering if there's already a mod out there that we could leverage? If so, it will help with our quoting the project. Thanks for any suggestions-- hopefully we'll get the contract!

You may want to work with devnet on this, as it is not a trivial modification depending on how you want to go about it, as you are going to need to be able to map and secure individuals products to specific admin accounts. Another way to handle this might be to use WSI and build a little windows client that allows them to manage their products, but again, proper security is necessary, and the out-of-the-box table structures do not support restricting management of product x to admin y. WSI would just prevent you from having to touch every single admin site page.

You're on exactly the right track...you (at this time) just have to write a "mini admin site" (using mostly the existing code in our main admin site) that allows the merchants to add/update their products. Order processing should still be centralized. Our Enterprise multi-store version may be adding this also. we have not fully decided yet, but it will add multi-store at least.

- setup custom manufacturer suites
- setup distributor suites
- made mini custom admin suites etc
