Default UPS Freight or others for large or heavy sales?

We have items or sales that often go over 150-pounds, which is the UPS weight limit, but they have a freight service too.
Can aspdotnet storefront integrate with UPS Freight the same as USPS or regular UPS?

The USPS has a size limitation: Height, width and length dimensions combined need to total 130 inches or less. Some of our items can be larger.
When an order goes over a certain weight or size can aspdotnet storefront remove the shipping option for UPS or USPS and only show UPS Freight or other shipping service?

No, AdNSF does not support NMFC ratings, liftgate options, or pallet loading. These are required to obtain an accurate rate quote from an LTL shipper.

How difficult or expensive would it be to gain support for a few more parameters to allow less-than-truckload shipping?

Would it be a difficult or expensive modification to add LTL shipping options?
    especially www.upsfreight.com

Or then would it be possible to hold order for customer to get a manual quote and get back to them to complete the order?

    Perhaps using www.con-way.com,
www.freightcenter.com or maybe www.freightquote.com to get a shipping quote?

LTL integrations seems like a valuable feature. For us it is a deal breaker not to have it.

It would be challenging. Say you sell all sizes of flat-panel tv's. Someone orders 12 of them of various sizes.

    • Is that one pallet with boxes stacked 4-high, or four pallets that cannot have other shippers crates stacked on top?
    • Does the "this-end-up" arrow on the box affect how the cart arranges items on a pallet?
    • Does the customer live in a residential neighborhood? How do we programmatically determine that? Does he need a liftgate, or will he and a buddy pull the boxes off the back of the truck?

The answers to all of these questions drastically affect the quote.

Sounds like you would recommend a manual quote for shipping. We could get a quote over the web from several shipping sites, even though integration would save us time. We could do this if the order can be submitted for review by us, then sent back to the customer for final authorization. .
Can we do this with aspdotnet storefront?

Yes, if the weight exceeds 150 lbs, the RTShipping.CallForShippingPrompt AppConfig is displayed, with a zero cost. We accept the order. You can then bill the cost of freight shipping as a adhoc charge to that order.

More information on that AppConfig is covered in the manual.

Both UPS and Fedex are listed as supported partners and both have online freight rate tools available. It seems like it might be worth the time for aspdotnet to have improved integration with them. For example, they will license me to have the tools for my company and put them into a non-commercial product like OS Commerce.
I have written all aspdotnet dev partners and so far none has come back with a proposal to add the additional integration. I think it is too small a mod to be very interesting.
As a seller our end of the shipping equaition is static, only the customer needs to indicate how they can receive the shipment to quote the rate.
I would hope aspdotnet would consider an update to add fedex and ups freight to the shipping options, it might benefit many customers and bring more sales to your great product.

If a certain order reached the maximum weight allowed set for UPS or any other preferred carrier (e.g. RTShipping.UPS.MaxWeight), the value provided under appconfig: RTShipping.CallForShippingPrompt (e.g. Call For Shipping Rates) will be displayed instead of the shipping method options.

    Question

Any updates on this? We're doing a quote now that will require realtime rates for LTL shipments. it would be nice to do this via UPS Freight or FedEx Freight.

with the source code and access to a 3rd party service it is possible to make a new carrier that returns LTL Freight. If you still want to parcel shipping for some items it is just a matter of adding the logic and then calling the rate for that carrier. However depending on the products it can make things a bit complex. It still isn't impossible just something you want to test quite few times before going live.
