The license will not function for other hostnames, no.

From your licenses page you can generate one development, one staging, and one production license.

So you would use up either your development or staging license for this test site.

    Question

I too still have my site in construction under a temorary URL. To activate the license should I create the development, staging, or production key? What is the difference?

    • Development can only be an IP address or localhost and is for internal purposes only
    • Staging can be a URL so you should use this for your temp site
    • Product is your final URL where the site will be when you go live

As per the license instructions, make sure you place the LICX file in your images directory
